Swansea Elementary School

Swansea Elementary School is located on the northern edge of Denver and is part of the Denver Public School system. The school has an enrollment of 568 children in the 2011/2012 school year. We made our first visit to Swansea on December 14th, 2011 and were greeted by students eager to be great readers. We trust we can add value to their mission to educate and equip all children to become highly effective
life-long learners.

"Your first distribution was a huge success and a very pleasant surprise for our students. It’s hard to put into words the excitement in their eyes as they saw the beautiful display of books that had been set up specifically for them. Alyssa’s touching story of compassion and her love of reading were inspiring to our students. The vast majority of our students do not have access to many print materials in their home and we know from the research on reading instruction that the amount of language and print a child is exposed to early in their lives is a major factor in promoting the development of reading skills. Your Foundation has not only provided access to books, but more importantly, a passion for books – an invaluable gift for our students."
